Finding time to make your child breakfast-No time to linger: Breakfast in second
Hello everyone here Ji, Everyone is busy in the morning. Following ways may help some of you to counter rush in morning hours.Finding time to make your child breakfast — not to mention getting him to eat it — can be a struggle. The good news is that you don't have to provide a complete meal every morning. What's important is getting your child going with a dose of energy and at least a few essential nutrients. Here are some ways to give him what he needs. No time to linger: Breakfast in seconds• Granola bars. Loaded with fiber from whole grains, granola bars are a great source of energy in the form of carbohydrates. Studies show that children are mentally sharper when they've eaten something, and brain cells need a constant supply of carbohydrates.• Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter. Whole grain bagels such as whole wheat and rye have more fiber than the plain or seeded varieties. Peanut butter is great source of protein, and the fat in the "natural" varieties doesn't clog arteries.• Oat bran muffin. With more fiber and less fat than a typical blueberry muffin, oat bran muffins also provide surprising amounts of potassium and...
Statins! Do you take them?
Do you take statins? I used to take Zocor, but I banned it from my pillbox last month. It was expensive and I became worried about some of the potential side effects. Maybe I should be worried about not taking it. But I'd rather take what is natural. Red rice yeast is what I take now, but I'm not sure how effective it is. What do you all take? Do you count on oat bran and garlic to do it for you?I'd like to know what else might work.
What fears do you have about taking statins?
Statins are used to treat cholesterol that's out of whack, and statins have some specific health concerns or risks, along with the benefits of lowering cholesterol. I've tried different herbs to tackle the cholesterol issues, but not as successfully as wanted. I've tried garlic, flaxseed, red rice yeast, a varitey of herbs, oat bran, cholestoff, exercise, and even eating vegan or low-cholesterol vegetarian for a while. But my readings aren't as low as the recommended readings. My doctor still believes in having me using a statin not a statin alternative.I think doctors overprescribe. What's your view on the subject?
Suggestions or advice for a rescue puppy please.
I rescued little Roxy just after Christmas 2009. I thought she might be anything up to a year old but she is still behaving like a young puppy...taking socks and shoes to chew, playing happily with soft toys, digging up the garden. The problem is a bit complicated. At first, I expected her to poo and wee on the carpet in the loungeroom. It's where most pet accidents have happened. (Luckily, I can put the rug in the tub and wash it and hang it out to rinse with the hose and dry in the sun.)I had been feeding her regularly with the other pets and then I would take her outside, even though sometimes she would eat very little or nothing. She would neither do a poo or a wee. I would also take her out before bed & again first thing in the morning. Sometime during the morning I would find a poo on the rug every 2 or 3 days. She quite often will not eat her breakfast but she is gaining weight quickly.I began to put her outside for longer periods. She would run around, have a dig, talk to anyone passing by and be happy. There is always fresh water in the shade for her and she enjoys chewing leaves, and sticks etc. If she does a poo outside she gets this jaunty little happy walk...
do you regret your gastric bypass?
My sister wants to get gastric bypass surgery but she keeps being unsure about it. She gets discouraged when she talks to people she knows who have had it and regret getting it done. But then she feels more optimistic about it when she thinks of finally losing the weight that she feels is impossible to lose on her own. Have you had it or know of someone who has had it? If so, did they regret it or were they happy with it? I want to let my sister know what more people think of this surgery. Thanks.

Reduce High Cholestrol
Cholesterol, a soft, fatty substance found in animal cells and blood, to help manufacture hormones, digestive chemicals, and healthy cells. So why the concern about cholestrol? Because the body doesn't need much to do the job and any unused cholesterol tends to linger in the bloodstream and cling to the arteries. The possible result: high cholesterol, which is considered a risk factor for health problems like heart disease and stroke. Fortunately, it's a risk you can control in part by eating plenty of low-fat, high-fiber, cholesterol-lowering fruits and vegetables. Excess cholesterol in the blood attaches to substances called lipoproteins. High-density lipsprotein (HDL, or "good" cholesterol) allows fatty plaque to build up in arteries, which may slow blood flow and could eventually lead to heart disease. A high total cholesterol reading may indicate that there's too much of the bad type in your blood, either because your body naturally produces large amounts of it or because you've been eating too much fat. Picking freely from the produce and bread aisles helps you lower cholesterol for several reasons. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains have little or no fat, so a diet rich...
Getting Veggies In Your Child!
Does your child like smoothies? My son loves his "moosie" in the morning, or anytime of day really! Here is my basic recipe: 1 1/2 c organic vanilla yogurt 1 med banana 1/8 c raw oat bran or wheat germ 1/2 c raw almonds 10 slices frozen peaches 10-12 frozen strawberries 2 T raw local honey Now here's the kicker Toss in 1 generous handful of raw spinach(you can do this before the strawberries and kids get a kick out of it being green.)Blend until smooth and frosty. Great meal on a hot day too! My son LOVES this and he likes to help put everything through the lid of the blender. He will eat more things that he helps to 'make'.[em]wink[/em][em]wink[/em]What ways have you gotten more veggies down your child? I don't like sneaking them in. He is well aware of what I put in his "moosies".
